Merri Sjaan is a board-certified physical therapist with a career spanning over 25 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Kinesiology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, followed by a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Hanzehogeschool Groningen in the Netherlands.
Merri began her professional journey at Lee Memorial in Fort Myers, Florida, where she practiced for five years. In 2003, she completed the APTA/Emory University Competency Course in Vestibular Rehabilitation. She is the only physical therapist in Jackson, Josephine, Douglas, Coos, Curry and Northern California counties with this certification. In 2005, she relocated to Grants Pass, Oregon, with her husband, also a physical therapist, to be closer to her family.
In Oregon, Merri established a vestibular program and focused primarily on neurological conditions at Asante. She worked with the ALS clinic for several years and assisted setting up Asante’s neurological physical therapy clinic. Over the past 15 years, she has dedicated her expertise to vestibular rehabilitation. Her personal experience of overcoming multiple peripheral and central vestibular conditions has provided her with unique insight and empathy for those facing similar challenges. Over the years she has helped thousands of area residents.
Merri’s latest endeavor is Balanced Physical Therapy, a practice dedicated to providing specialized care and improving the lives of her patients. She is pursuing her advanced vestibular therapy certification during 2026/2027 and will be traveling to Australia in 2027 to complete the certification.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, homesteading, traveling and being on a beach anywhere. She is a member of VEDA and can be found on the website Vestibular.org.

“Well worth the drive from Klamath Falls. “
” I have suffered from vertigo for 30 years. Merri Sjaan was the only person to fix it”
“We both have told MANY people to go see Merri Sjaan. She knows EVERY kind of dizziness-there are hundreds. After our first visit there, we ran into a lady who said “Oh, I’ve been to Merri–she’s a Grants Pass treasure”! We totally agree! Each time I went to see her I got better. She is such a caring person, too. She called my wife during her lunch break to try to give her advice for her headaches (and she’s not her patient-yet). Merri is a saint! We hope she stays in the area a long time!”
